There is strong circumstantial evidence that this is the "Frank" lamented in the letter of 1st Lieut. James Touchstone - see forum notes.

Warren Keifer, commanding Second Brigade - "I have the honor, as required in orders, to forward the names of enlisted men, who, by their gallantry and good conduct, deserve rewards at the hands of those in authority. The above-named enlisted men of the Sixth Maryland are each reported by their company and regimental commanders as having been conspicuous for bravery in the charge on the 2d instant, and in the battle of the 6th instant at Sailor's Creek, Va." Among those specified was Pvt. Samuel F. Barrett.

Janney, Thomas, Private, mustered Aug. 19, 1862; Killed in action, May 5, 1864, Wilderness, Va. Notes: Brother of Westley Janney and brother-in-law of John Patrick Hurley who married their sister Harriet. He was captured at Winchester Virginia on June 15,1863 and confined at Ricmond, Virginia on June 23rd and 24th. Parolled at Lelilly Point, Virginia on July 23rd and reported to Camp Parole Maryland the following day.He had two blood children, Anna Louisa and Melvin. Two other children, one born almost a year after his death and the other before his marriage are believed to be the children of Thomas E. Lee, also of Company G.

Janney, Westley, Private, mustered Aug. 14, 1862; Deserted, January 20, 1863.Notes: Brother of Thomas Janney and brother-in-law of John Patrick Hurley who married their sister Harriet. On March 6, 1864, Westley enlisted in the 2nd Pennsylvania Cavalry, Company G as Westley Jordan.
